This is really a 4 1/2 star book, but I'm trying to avoid grade inflation, so I did not round up. Our heroine, Arcadia Bell, is a magician who is in hiding because her parents (also magicians) are accused serial killers who are also in hiding. She bartends and is part-owner of a bar which is frequented by earth-bound demons. She mostly uses her magic to keep her patrons in line.Her parents are spotted, and she is told that she has 2 weeks to clear their names, or either they or she will be required to be turned in to the magical community, and the most likely outcome is their or her deaths.
I enjoyed the quest for knowledge, and the developing relationship she has with an earthbound demon who is apparently an acquirer of ancient spell books. I also enjoyed how some of the magical scenes required some sexual activity as the catalyst!
