I liked this second installment only slightly less than the first, hence the downgrade. What I did really enjoy was the start of the book. I totally understood the passage of time, how it was handled and why it was necessary. In addition, the central story arc of Beatrice's missing father, and what he took from Lorenzo was enjoyable. Also, Beatrice's trying to train herself to not be such a victim around the vamps. What brought the book down from the first, for me, was the relationship angst. I felt like Beatrice who had been so strong in the first book about moving on with her life, had lost that strength of will and needed to either s*** or get off the pot!
