I really liked this book, and while there is not a darn thing wrong with it, it did not blow me away like the first book in the series, The Iron Duke. The worldbuilding continues, but now it is not in London but all over Europe. We learn still more about the history of the Horde Invasion, and the exodus from Europe to the New World of the major countries, which while interesting, was not quite as fascinating as the first time through.
Yasmeen, our heroine, is an airship captain, and a truly wonderful, strong female character. Her romantic foil, Archimedes Fox is also an interesting, swashbuckling type character. I enjoyed learning their backstories (although I was still a little confused about Yasmeen's)and although they seem perfect for each other on paper, I didn't quite "feel the love".
